Jenni Roditi's eclectic work is unbound by stylistic convention, exploiting the voice's potential to its limits in both her writing and her singing. Amongst her output is opera, choral, chamber, orchestral and vocal music. She has also written pop songs and is a confident free improviser. She often employs vocal techniques from other cultures and uses these to great effect, particularly in her operas.

The Descent of Inanna will be pitched (in the form of a 5 minute DVD and a two minute talk!) to the International Society for Performing Arts
at their 62nd Congress in New York City on January 13th at the Times Center.

After 5000 years the Goddess returns.

Ancient and modern.

Inanna has everything and is a legend in the eyes of her people.

How did she lose it all?

In her terrifying journey to the Netherworld Inanna is stripped

of all she has become and must die.

Everything... becomes nothing.

But emptiness brings a new fullness.

Her return to life marks a new beginning and new compassion.
